The Challenge
Nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is one of the most artistic procedures in plastic surgery. Dr. Shuster’s emphasis is to produce a nose that both looks natural and fits the patient’s face. Through this procedure, he can reshape the nose to remove bumps, refine the tip, and improve asymmetries.
The Dr. Shuster Approach
Having over 20 years of experience and a legacy of more than 90 years with nose surgery, Dr. Shuster brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his rhinoplasty patients. He understands that this transformative procedure can bring balance and harmony to the face, blending seamlessly with the surrounding facial features. Dr. Shuster is able to achieve such natural and beautiful results by using a variety of surgical techniques, which allows him to artistically reshape and reposition the cartilages and bones of the nose depending upon his patient’s specific anatomy.
“Open” and “Closed” Rhinoplasty
Open and closed methods for rhinoplasty refer just to the incisions used to approach the nasal structures. The open approach uses incisions both inside the nostrils and across the narrow area of skin between the nostrils. As it is open, this approach provides direct visualization of the cartilages so it is better for patients who need tip work to look their best. The closed approach uses incisions just inside the nostrils. Because the closed rhinoplasty does not provide visualization, it is most useful for patients who do not need much tip refinement. Both methods are inconspicuous.
