Artistry Embodied

Cosmetic nose surgery is one of the most artistic procedures in plastic surgery. Dr. Shuster’s emphasis is to achieve a nose that looks balanced and natural and enhances his patient’s natural beauty. Through this procedure, he can reshape bumps, refine the tip, correct the nostrils, and improve asymmetries.

A rhinoplasty is an opportunity to enhance a patient’s features and beauty, not change the way they look

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, the medical term for a “nose job,” is a surgical procedure to enhance the appearance of the nose. It can address imperfections in size and shape to create a natural, balanced facial appearance. Additionally, in some cases, rhinoplasty can also improve one’s breathing.

I recently underwent a rhinoplasty with Dr. Shuster, and I am extremely happy and amazed with the results. I still look like myself, but with a perfectly straight nose.

    Dr. Shuster’s Approach

Dr. Shuster knows that this procedure can be truly life-changing. Drawing upon over 25 years of evolving methods, he is able to achieve natural and beautiful results by using a variety of surgical techniques that allow him to artistically reshape and reposition the cartilage and bone within the nose.

Dr. Shuster implements Piezorhinoplasty, or ultrasonic rhinoplasty. This is the most important innovation in nose surgery that has been revolutionizing the procedure. This nasal shaping device uses high-speed sound waves to achieve bone reshaping in rhinoplasty. The tiny cutting and shaving attachments vibrate in such a manner that there is no need to treat the nose with a hammer and chisel; rather, millimetric incisions can be made from any point. This allows Dr. Shuster to perform the operation with more precision than ever before. Piezorhinoplasty is meticulously accurate, minimizes trauma to the soft tissues, reduces bruising and swelling, and speeds up recovery.

Dr. Shuster serves the Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami areas and beyond. Good candidates for rhinoplasty are healthy individuals who have cosmetic concerns about the appearance of their noses.

      Cosmetic Nose Surgery Details

With an emphasis on safety, Dr. Shuster performs all surgeries in the hospital. The procedure can vary in time depending on the extent of the surgery but typically takes 1-3 hours to perform.

Dr. Shuster specializes in both open structure, preservation, and closed rhinoplasty. Specific details of the procedure will be tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy.  Rhinoplasties are not particularly painful surgeries. Although there will be discomfort afterward, it is usually minimal.

      Recovery After Nose Surgery

Recovery after a nose job is gradual. Patients should plan on taking it very easy the week after surgery. A low-sodium diet is helpful to minimize swelling. Some bruising and swelling can be expected after your nose surgery, but most patients will be able to return to work or school once the splint is removed.

The first day after nose surgery should be spent in bed with your head elevated. You should continue to sleep with your head elevated for the next few days and use cold compresses to alleviate any discomfort. Swelling will gradually subside over the course of a few weeks but will be present in some form for many months to come. Bruising typically resolves within 7-14 days.

Some quick guidelines include the following:

      • Prevent increased nasal pressure by avoiding lifting heavy objects or bending over
      • Avoid blowing or rubbing your nose for a few weeks
      • Wait 3-4 weeks before resuming light exercise

      Rhinoplasty Aftercare

After a rhinoplasty, a splint is placed on the nose to maintain its shape. The splint is removed in the office one week after your nose job. Dr. Shuster will provide you with specific care guidelines to ensure the smoothest and most beneficial recovery. He and his staff will keep a close eye on you and will see you frequently to make sure you’re healing properly.

      Results from Your Rhinoplasty

There is always swelling and bruising that develops after surgery. Bruises typically subside over the course of a week or two. Swelling goes down more slowly, and while patients look good within a couple of weeks after surgery, swelling actually takes months to subside completely. Full recovery may take up to one year before the final results are seen.
